You’ve probably noticed that there is a new trend with brides and airbrushed makeup. And maybe you’ve considered getting airbrush makeup for your big day but are still on the fence about if you should or not? Every type of makeup and its application process has pros and cons. And every makeup artist has their favorite way of applying makeup. However, when it comes down to it, it’s your wedding and a professional makeup artist just wants you to be the happiest you can be on your wedding day!

Feeling beautiful and confident is one of the most important parts of your wedding day. So in that spirit, we will explain the difference and all of the benefits so you can make an educated choice for yourself!

Regular vs. Airbrushed Makeup
So what is the actual difference between regular makeup application and airbrush makeup application? The difference lies in the method of application. While regular makeup application includes a brush, sponge, etc. airbrush application uses an airbrush gun that sprays the product through a needle-sized opening in a thin veil over the face.

Because airbrushed makeup is applied by using a thin mist, it has the ability to be whatever coverage that you want by adding layers of the mist on top of one another.

Benefits of Airbrushed Makeup for Brides
  1. Great coverage with much less makeup. Many people say they don’t even feel like they are wearing makeup! Since the makeup comes out of the gun in a very controllable fine mist, there is the ability to decide how much coverage you would like. Airbrushing has the ability to provide great coverage while using much less makeup with traditional application.
  2. Goes on seamless for a smooth and flawless look. Airbrushing does just what it sounds like, it goes on seamless! When we think of airbrushing we think of retouched photos, flawless complexions, etc. And that’s why brides love airbrushed makeup, because it photographs very well and lasts through the hundreds of photos that they will be taking.
  3. Can last up to 12 hours. Unlike some regular makeup, airbrushed makeup can last for up to 12 hours and even more on many different types of complexions. The best part of airbrushed makeup is that it doesn’t require continuous reapplication and touch ups!

In the end, it’s always important to have a makeup trial before your wedding to make sure that you like the look. This is especially important if you’ve never had airbrush makeup applied to your face before. Ask your makeup artist if they offer airbrush and what they think about the process!
